“LANDSCAPE LOOP”
New park in Via del Mezzetta
2023: year of the “green revolution”.
The project falls within the redevelopment plan of the green areas of Florence, financed through European funds for the territory, with interventions on parks, gardens and reforestation.
The garden in via del Mezzetta, located between the old complex of San Salvi to the west, the residential front of Coverciano to the north, the commercial area of Gignoro to the east and the high-speed railway line to the south, has always been a green area used by a large number of citizens ranging from students of neighboring school and residents.
The project started with a study analysis of the current context, uses and existing mobility, and synthesized itself with a new program of functions and circulation axis.
Two new routes are born, the west-east axis that connects San Salvi to the Gignoro area and the north-south axis with a boulevard which then transforms into a curvilinear path within the new reclaimed green area of the park.
In stylistic contrast, a new landscaped loop crosses the entire heart of the park creating a ring of functions for visitors: new play areas for children, relaxation areas with outdoor furnishings, a water square with a playful function for the summer months, a garden with ornamental blooms, a monolithic element with a seat-fountain function, fitness areas, and three morphological lawn reliefs with ergonomic seats.
This ring is therefore identified as a circular square to be walked freely, giving a dynamic sense to the park and its areas of usege.
Finally, the tree component is increased by 30% with the planting of new species.
